How To Host A Friendsgiving To Remember

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and with that comes my annual FRIENDSGIVING celebration! Some people celebrate ‘Friendsgiving’ (self-explanatory, but it means ‘Thanksgiving dinner celebrated with friends’) in place of Thanksgiving; I say the more holiday festivities the merrier, and observe both with bells on.

So.. how does one put on a Friendsgiving that everyone is still talking about a year later? Here are a few of my tried-and-true standbys:

Make it potluck. So much easier than cooking a second Thanksgiving dinner. Plus, it’s so much fun having everyone bring their favorite dishes to share. I always go to the Dollar Tree and stock up on Tupperware containers so that everyone can go home with leftovers.

Create a fun Facebook invite 4-6 weeks prior. Get your friends excited, start sharing who’s bringing what so there isn’t too much overlap, and if this isn’t your first rodeo, share photos from last year to reminisce!

Have an autumn-themed signature drink. My apple cider sangria was a thing of beauty. Pinterest is chock FULL of amazing ideas – I dare you to pick just one!

Have 1-2 party games on hand. It’s a great icebreaker if you have different groups of friends in attendance, but a blast either way. I highly recommend 5 Second Rule.

Grab a prop and strike a pose! I got a gold foil curtain, selfie stick and photo booth props super cheap on Amazon. Everyone had so much fun taking ‘photo booth’ selfies all night, and this year we added in a few new props to mix things up a bit.
